Texture

I have noticed that as I get older, wearing very smooth fabrics--like satin or some knits--near my face throws my wrinkles into high relief. The contrast somehow makes me look more wrinkled. So I go for more textured fabrics with more depth--or if I am wearing a silk scarf, I make sure it is tied with a lot of folds so that it appears more textured.

texture and color blending

100% cotton t's in your color pallet and with a necklace in your right color should be ok, but shiny/shimmery knits I agree with you on, usually in synthetic fibers, so best with a scarf or chunky necklace in your right color. At 66 my basic clothes (except for church)are athletic/jogging(capri's,pants, & polos & t's). I try to stay away from wrong colors, esp black, as some materials (jogging jackets esp) can be poly knit (navy blue may be a little dark), so I use an orange or gold beaded necklace. All this is worn with jogging shoes. Over 40's really need to stick with their colors near their face (blouses, tops)
