I wrote and published "Pearls For My Birthday" when I was 53.
The story is not maudlin. Though the thread that runs through the story is about the cancer issue, the book explores the relationship between a mother and daughter, as it changes through the years. Yes, the daughter is struggling, trying to 'save her Mom,' while her Mom brings her to accept that she is dying. The daughter comes to terms with her own mortality.
The story is a celebration of life.
