JA Frazer Crocker is a long time an admirer of the work of R. S. Thomas and other modern religious poets. Here is a poem that he wrote at the age of 62.
“A cold coming we had of it...” The Visit of the Magi--T. S. Eliot .
We have, however, warmed well this space, the flickering votive of our stumbling speech, the jagged edge of broken silence, holding at bay the violence-- .
warmed well, too, this cold space, the pine scent in the fire warmed room, the guttering votive beside the Blessed Babe .
and yet .
We do cool the tears of mortality cover our fears with rationality and hear others tell out our poetry .
